As you can see, the suction cups cover the whole underside of the mat. The surface of the mat has a texture to it that allows you to have maximum footing while repelling water. I really like this aspect of the mat because most bath mats allow water to soak in them, which cause mold and mildew to form. This will not be happening with this mat.
