Hot sauce is loved in my house. There are no less than three different bottled varieties in my pantry and a host of hot sauce packets from tons of restaurants in my kitchen drawers. The versatility of this condiment is unmatched. You can use hot sauce to dip your fries in or you can use it as a main ingredient for your cheat day meal. When I was presented with the opportunity to try out ¡Sabor! by Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce, I could not pass it up (my family would have gave me the silent treatment if I did). Since I've been craving fried foods, I decided to make My Momma's Hot Wings and was satisfied 100 times over.
Making homemade hot wings is super easy and if you follow My Momma's Hot Wings recipe you can't go wrong!
My Momma's Hot Wings
Ingredients:
- 2 lb of Chicken Wings
- 2 cups of Flour
- 1/3 bottle of ¡Sabor! by Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce
- 2 cups of Cooking Oil (deep frying)
- 1 stick of Butter
- 1/2 tsp of Salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp of Pepper
- 1 1/2 tbsp of Paprika
- 1 tsp of Red Crushed Peppers
- 1/2 tsp of Worcestershire Sauce
Instructions:
Step 1: After you cleaned the chicken wings, cut them in half (where they naturally separate) and cut of the wings tips from the base. Having a sharp knife will make this step less time consuming. Preheat 2 cups of cooking oil in the skillet of your choice.
Step 3: Once each piece is coated with flour test your frying oil to see if it is hot enough to begin the frying process. When the oil is ready place 6-8 pieces of chicken into the skillet and cook for 20 minutes (10 minutes on each side). Chicken wings should be golden brown on both sides when fully cooked.
Step 4: (Preheat oven on 350 degrees Fahrenheit) Add the stick of butter, Worcestershire sauce, crushed red peppers, and ¡Sabor! hot sauce into a pot and simmer on low heat. (¡Sabor! hot sauce has a medium kick to it so you may want to add more crushed red peppers depending on your desired heat intensity). Stir until all ingredients are completely mixed in. Once sauce starts to bubble add pieces of chicken into the pot and thoroughly coat them on all sides. Place dipped chicken in a pan that can be put in an oven.
Step 5: Pour excess sauce over the chicken wings and place them in the oven for 15 minutes.
Once out of the oven and cooled to an enjoyable temperature, serve and enjoy!

¡Sabor! by Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce is flavorful and can be enjoyed by the whole family. The ingredients such as: sea salt, vinegar aged peppers, and sauteed garlic flavor are high quality and can be consistently tasted throughout the entire sauce. The heat intensity is medium and gives off the prefect level of heat & spice. No matter if you enjoy mild or hot hot sauce you will love ¡Sabor!

I have never made my own wings. This looks way too easy to not try. Yummy!!!
I am sharing this post with my wife. She loves things super spicy and I bet she'd love to try this sauce.
My husband loves hot wings! Could we use our active fry instead of using hot oil?
With little ones underfoot this scares the crap out of me but I would love to surprise him with a spicy treat.
We're huge fans of wings! I love your recipe, can't wait to try it!
YUM! My mouth is watering, this looks so delicious!
Of course I come across this at lunch time. Looks so amazing.
What a great recipe for those who want to make their own hot wings.
I think this sounds awesome. I Love hot wings, but my husband doesn't, so I rarely make them at home because then I am forced to eat them all ;)
This looks SO good. Maybe not for breakfast, but any other time of the day would be amazing! Bring it on!
I can totally see me doing this, but I tend to also season my flour whenever I fry chicken. I've never used Sabor, have not even seen it but I'll have to check the next time I go to the supermarket.
I've never made homemade wings before, but could TOTALLY make them with this awesome recipe! Thanks for the great tutorial - and I want to try that hot sauce, for sure!
These sound delicious. I love chicken wings though I can't handle much heat. I'd like to give it these a try though as you can make them as hot (or not) as you like.
We LOVE these kinds of finger foods with a game day! I am not into the spicy ones, but would love to make something similar with this one but make it sweet.
These chicken wings look and sound so delicious. My husband is a huge fan of wings. I can't wait to try this recipe!
Texas Pepe rules when it comes to hot sauce. I can't wait to try your hot wings, I'm having a party of sorts soon and planned to make hot wings as part of the menu. I'm sure they'd be much better the way you make them than I was going to.
That sauce sounds great. The guys like their wings super spicy. I think they'd like these.
These wings look and sound so good. I haven't made hot wings in a long time. Finding and using a good sauce is key.
I am sure I could eat way too many of these. Hot wings are so addictive! These look delish!
The Mexican-style hot sauce is something I have been wanting to try! I have to check this brand..
Oh wow, I've never seen how to make those! I love me some hot wings :)
Awesome recipe! We love chicken wings and anything spicy :)
Here's a tip when making fried chicken with flour breading, after you coat the chicken with flour let it sit at the ref for about 4 hours. It will turn a lot crispier :)
Oh I need to try these, the Mister loves him some hot wings. This might earn me some extra points. lol
This is how I make my hot wings!! I don't have that sauce and this looks tasty!!!
My husband loves hotwings! Me not so much, but I needed a recipe to try out on him! thanks for sharing!
